Hearts of Oak

Troubled Hearts of Oak will square off against red-hot Ebusua Dwarfs on matchday 15 of the 2020/21 Ghana Premier League on Sunday.

Hearts of Oak will be heading into the last round of fixtures with so much uncertainty having around the club.

The Board and management members of the Premier League giants have come under severe pressure amid the current happenings in the club.

The fans protested after the mass resignations to hit the club this week as head coach Kosta Papic together with other technical team members Ben Owu, Asare Bediako all resigned from their post.

Former cult hero Laryea Kingston is said to have gotten the nod to become the interim trainer of the side despite a communique from the club indicating that U-15 coach Samuel Nii Noi will lead the team.

Fans of the Phobians are hoping their beloved club will put their acts together and fight on one front when they welcome Ebusua Dwarfs to the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday.

The one-time continental champions have recorded some terrible results lately, winning just one of their last five matches.

Hearts of Oak last win in the championship was a month ago when they defeated Eleven Wonders 2-0 at home.

Ebusua Dwarfs will feel lucky to be facing the league giants at this time of the season.

The Crabs are one of the most improved teams on the road this term hence traveling to Accra to face a struggling Hearts of Oak team comes as a New Year bonus.

Dwarfs will encounter the match with bags full of confidence due to their healthy away form in the last five outings.

The Cape Coast-based outfit have lost only once on their last five travels, winning two and drawing two.

Coach Ernest Thompson’s men will also be boosted by the return of inspirational captain Dennis Korsah Akouma into the fold from Black Stars duty.

Hearts of Oak themselves will welcome back deputy skipper Mohammed Alhassan into the team after he was whisked away on national duty with the Ghana Black Stars.

Matches between these two traditional sides have always produced the goods.

Since 2010, Both teams have played each other seventeen (17) times.

But it is the Rainbow Club that picked ten (10) wins against two (2) losses and five (5) draws.

Ebusua Dwarfs will have to play above their usual level to end their ten-year winless streak against the hosts. Their last triumph against their opponents came in 2012 courtesy a 3-1 victory at home.

Hearts of Oak have won six (6) straight wins against Dwarfs, scoring at least two goals in the process.
