Ghana defender Jonathan Mensah says he did no wrong when he joined Evian without the knowledge of Udinese, insisting he has no contract with the Italian side.
The 21-year-old joined Evian this week on a free transfer without the knowledge of Udinese.
The Italian side are furious about Mensah’s move to France claiming he has four years remaining on his contract with Udinese.
They will report him to Fifa this week for breach of contract while his agent Antoine Figali and and Evian could face the charge of inducing the player to violate his contract.
The defender could be banned for at least SIX MONTHS if Fifa find him guilty of breaching his contract with Udinese.
Mensah joined Udinese from South African side Free State Stars last year with the Italian club claiming they signed him to a five-year contract.
But Mensah says he has no contract with Udinese as the Italian failed to produce his contract when they were confronted by his agent.
Mensah told GHANAsoccernet.com: "My manager cannot make such a mistake. I have no contract with Udinese."
Mensah, who spent last season on loan at promoted Spanish side Granada FC, inked a four year deal with Evian Thonon Gaillard last Thursday.
The 21-year-old was officially presented to the fans on Saturday just before their pre-season 2-0 defeat to Nantes.
Udinese officials are shocked that Evian could sign a player without checking his contract especially with the club they had just bought Ghana youth midfielder Rabiu Mohammed from.
