Mexican side Zacatepec retain Ghanaian defender Akong despite massive clear-out

Mexican top flight side Atletico Zacatepec have retained Ghanaian defender Jacob Akrong for the 2019 season despite a massive clear out. 

The former Liberty Professional player has been impressive for the club since joining them from Spanish side Palamos.

Zacatepec have cut-off eight top players from their roaster after an underwhelming season.

Among the players to have left the sugarcane team are Alfonso Rippa, Juan "Cheche" Hernández, Luis Márquez, Kevin Ramírez, Óscar Macias, Abraham de Jesús Torres Nilo, Gerson Marín and Mario Quezada, as well as those announced more than 10 days , like Ronaldo Cisneros and Josué Lázaro, who left for Chivas.

Meanwhile, the players that have been retained for preseason includes Ghanaian defender  Jacob Akrong, Víctor Hugo Hernández, Juan Orozco, Diego Cortés, Carlos Zamora, Andrés Ramírez, the morelense of Pedro Amaro de Jojutla Ángel Gaspar, Marco Argüelles, Kevin Magaña, Jonathan Valdivia, Ángel López , Rodrigo Izquierdo and Facundo Taborda.
