Ghana coach Avram Grant is observing Spain-based Thomas Partey for a possible call-up into the Black Stars following the Atletico Madrid midfielder's heroics in the La Liga, it has been revealed.

Gerard Nus, one of the members of the Black Stars technical staff, who is based in Spain says the midfielder has come under the radar of Grant for a possible selection into the national team.

But the Spaniard who is one of the assistants of Grant was quick to point out that despite the monitoring of the player it does not guarantee an automatic call-up into the Black Stars.

Partey was thrust into the limelight after scoring a late winner against Levante at the weekend, to send Diego Simeone's side top of La Liga.

Nus who is a key member of Grant's technical staff has revealed that Partey is among the players the Ghana coach has been monitoring to boost the Black Stars squad.

The trainer says the presence of the many talented Ghanaian players makes an automatic call-up for the player to the Black Stars very difficult.

"He did well and it is going to be Avram Grant's decision when he wants to take him (Partey). We talk about him (Partey) and many others. It is important that all of them know that and they do their job," Nus told the BBC World Service.

"We watch him and we know how good he is. The problem with the national team is that there are so many talents and it is hard to choose.

"He has adapted to the different teams he has been and this is important especially when you are from overseas and you come from Africa and have to adapt to so many this.

"In terms of football in those demanding leagues you have to be good technically and tactically and especially in Spain you have to be switched on in those aspects and be smart."

The Atletico Madrid midfielder is yet to play for Ghana at any level.

He has also not gained a regular first team starting place in the Spanish team even though he has excelled when brought on as a substitute.

Partey stole the headlines over the weekend when the substitute scored the only goal for Atletico as they beat Levante to go top of the league ahead of Barcelona.

The Ghanaian has only been considered for selection by Atletico Madrid as injuries have ravaged their squad this season after returning from a loan stint at Almeria last term.
