Roma midfielder says the squad are motivated to do well

Motivation has been one of the key reasons for Roma’s excellent form of late, says midfielder Miralem Pjanic.

A 4-1 demolition of fellow Champions League qualification contenders Fiorentina means that the Giallorossi have now won their last six Serie A matches, a run of form which has seen them leap up to third place in the table.

It’s no coincidence that the upturn has coincided with the arrival of Luciano Spalletti as coach, and Pjanic believes that the squad’s mental capabilities have been challenged.

“We’re playing well, we know that no game is going to be easy,” he told Mediaset Premium.

“We’re doing a lot, we have the right motivation and we also have the right aggression.”

There are now just 10 games left in the league for the Lupi but Pjanic knows that this is still a long way to go, with their position in the table still very much subject to change.

“We have to continue in this manner because the league is long,” he continued.

When quizzed on what exactly Spalletti has been doing to turn around the fortunes of the Stadio Olimpico outfit, the Bosnia international raised a point about the Italian’s use of training as preparation.

“The organisation with him is good, and we work on it during the week,” he said.

“We work a lot and now the fruit is being collected in the league.

“We’re very happy with Spalletti, we’re doing a good job and things are going well with him in charge.”
