Serie A will reportedly restart from Atalanta-Sassuolo in Bergamo on June 19

Serie A will restart from Atalanta-Sassuolo in Bergamo on June 19, reports Sky Sport Italia.

Serie A is free to start again behind closed doors from Friday June 20, but the broadcaster claims the first match will take place 24 hours earlier.

The fixture in question would be Atalanta-Sassuolo, described as ‘symbolic’ for two reasons.

The first reason is that Bergamo, where the game is due to be held, is considered the epicentre of the coronavirus pandemic in Italy.

Secondly, the Dea’s visitors were the last team along with Brescia to play in Serie A before the season ground to a halt.

On that occasion, striker Francesco Caputo celebrated one of his two goals with a banner that read: “Everything will be fine, stay at home.”
