Team of the Week: Ghanaian players abroad

GHANAsoccernet.com picks the Team of the week from the weekend’s round of action which includes youngsters Emmanuel Frimpong, Afriyie Acquah and Abdul Majeed Waris.

ADAM LARSEN KWARASEY- STROMSGODSET

Adam Kwarasey maintains his place as first choice goalkeeper after putting some glittering show for Stromsgodset over the weekend.

Just after earning the plaudits in the Ghana-Brazil friendly, the 23-year-old returned to his Drammen-based side with even more confidence.

Though Adam picked two balls from his net, he was excellent on the day as Stroms fought from behind to draw.

His save from a Erik Nevland midway through the second half was far more spectacular.

 DANIEL OPARE - STANDARD LIEGE

Though natural left-footed full back David Addy returned to action this weekend, Daniel Opare remains the favourite for the left-back role.

The former Real Madrid Castilla player was on top of his game for Liege.

He made defending easy causing the dreams of Westerlo attackers to remain an illusion.

He was a key factor in the victory for Liege as they moved just two points behind leaders Gent.

 RAHIM AYEW - LIERSE

The 23-year-old was among the best performers on the pitch for Lierse though they failed to pick maximum points on home grounds.

He engineered barrage of attacks from the right and occasionally bombed up the Lokeren  defence causing headache for the visitors.

Rahim makes it into the team as right-back.

ISAAC VORSAH - TSG HOFFENHEIM

Solid as rock! Isaac Vorsah continues to be establish himself as one of the most important players for Hoffenheim.

Vorsah was strong in the air, precised with passes and almost apt with crucial tackles. He was a monster to the Mainz 05 frontmen.

DANIEL ADDO - ZORYA FC

Juandi Ramos was put under further pressure and one of the men who ensured that his side had absolutely no chance of scoring was Daniel Addo.

The former King Faisal defender was a pillar.

Addo's fighting spirit in defence was enough to contain attacks initiated by Ghanaian compatriots Samuel Inkoom from the right and Derek Boateng from the middle.

 Â Ã‚ Ã‚ Ã‚ KWADWO ASAMOAH - UDINESE

Kwadwo Asamoah's performance for Udinese was commendable.

The 23-year-old oiled the midfield and created some sort of fluidity in the free flowing Udinese game.

The victory over Lecce was previous but the form of the 2010 Africa's best young player of the year was inspiring.

 

EMMANUEL AGYEMANG-BADU - UDINESE

Now Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu has confirmed his place as an automatic starter for the Little Zebras.

His passing accuracy and inter-positional plays improved yet again.

EMMANUEL FRIMPONG - ARSENAL

The 19-year-old could have opened the scoring for Arsene Wenger's side earlier in the first half but his powerful low drive skewed meters away.

Frimpong returned from suspension energised.

The Kumasi-born hard-tackling midfielder is gradually sealing his place as an automatic starter at the Emirates Stadium.

He fed new signing Mikel Arteta with a couple of through passes which the Spaniard failed to make use good use of.

AFRIYIE ACQUAH - PALERMO

Caretaker Boss Devis Mangia allowed the youngster to watch the game from the bench for the first 45 minutes and then unleashed him on Inter.

He neutralised the Inter Milan midfield and created space for his team-mates to operate which resulted in all three goals scored in the second half.

ABDUL M. WARIS - HACKEN

The Ghanaian starlet got the goal for an inconsistent Hacken side in the 1-1 draw with leaders Helsingborg on home grounds.

His pace and immense abilities created problems for the leaders until he was replaced.

HAMINU DRAMANI - ARLES AVIGNON

The winger was full of life on the flanks for Arles.

With Arles finishing the game with nine men, the former Spartak Moscow man ensured his team could still make some attacks.

Dramani provided the assist for Arles goal to return with a point.
