Newly-signed Hannover 96 forward Patrick Twumasi is a major doubt for Hannover 96 ahead of their opening fixture of the 2020/21 German Bundesliga 2 season against Karlsruhe.

Twumasi moved to the HDI Arena on a three year deal from Spanish outfit Deportivo Alaves.

The 26-year-old made a brief appearance as the Reds lost 2-0 against Werder Bremen in a pre-season friendly encounter last week.

It was the first time in nine weeks since the former Astana ace took to the field and coach Kenan Kocak is not keen to risk him in their DFB Pokal match against Würzburg Kickers on Monday.

Twumasi replaced Marvin Ducksch in the 81st minute as Hannover 96 thump Kickers 3-2 to advance to the next round of the competition.

With the German Bundesliga 2 starting this weekend, coach Kenan is said to be cautious over handing the Ghana international his debut in the opening fixture against Karlsruhe on Saturday.

Nonetheless, at 96 they are convinced that the dead-eye forward will soon hit full fitness: “The boy can play football. We'll have a lot of fun with him," Sports director Gerhard Zuber said.
