Watch Highlights of Ghana's debut game at the 2006 FIFA World Cup

Ghana's Black stars made their debut appearance in the FIFA World Cup 14 years ago today at the Hannover Stadium against Italy.

The Black Stars were paired alongside Italy, Czech Republic and USA.

It was the Black Stars tournament opener against the European giants which came off at the Hannover Stadion on June 12, 2006.

Italy won the game by 2-0 with goals scored by Andre Pirlo and Iaqunita to secure the first win of the tournament for the Azurries who later went on to win the final against France.

Below is Ghana's starting line up for the game against Italy

Ghana: Richard Kingston, John Pantsil, Samuel Osei Kuffour, Mensah, Pappoe (Shilla Illiansu 45), Muntari, Essien, Stephen Appiah (C), Eric Addo, Asamoah Gyan (Tachie-Mensah 89), Mathew Amoah (Razak Pimpong 68).

Subs Not Used: Otto Addo, Sammy Adjei, Issah Ahmed, Derek Boateng, Dramani, Mohamed, George Owu, Dan Quaye, Hans Adu Sarpei.
