Wolves frustrated in stalemate

Wolves were left to rue the introduction of VAR after having a goal ruled out in a stalemate against Leicester at the King Power Stadium.

The visitors looked to have taken the lead early in the second half, Leander Dondoncker getting on the end of a Joao Mouinho corner and forcing the ball home. He was celebrating with team mates before the decision came a minute later that the goal was disallowed for handball.

At this level every point is important and if you cannot win you take a point and work hard to improve next week.

The controversy aside the game ended goalless between two sides expected to threaten the top six in the Premier League this season.

It failed to spark into life however with only three shots on target during the game, though Foxes boss Brendan Rodgers was satisfied after the final whistle.

He told the BBC: "It was a good game, two well-managed teams. At this time of the season it's never going to be perfect but I'm really pleased with the attitude. Sometimes in these games you can lose 1-0 but we kept fighting to the end.

"At this level every point is important and if you cannot win you take a point and work hard to improve next week."

Leicester finished ninth last season while Wolves, in their first season back in the top flight ended in seventh, good enough for Europa League football this campaign.

They beat Crusaders 6-1 on aggregate in the second qualifying round and have a 4-0 lead after the first leg of the third qualifying round, beating Armenian side Pyunik last week.

Wolves play the second leg this week and are back in league action next Monday when they go play host to Manchester United.

Leicester play next Sunday, travelling to Stamford Bridge to face Chelsea. They are 17/4 for the win with Frank Lampard's side 4/6 and the draw is 13/5. Jamie Vardy is 6/1 to score the first goal.
