World Cup 2010: Gyan aims at stardom with semis berth

Published on: 01 July 2010

With three goals already at this World Cup, Ghana striker Asamoah Gyan is convinced he is on the way to football stardom if he helps his team become the first African side to reach the semifinals.

Ghana faces Uruguay in a quarterfinal Friday and the striker, who plays for modest French club Rennes, sees big things on the horizon if he helps his country make history.

Gyan also scored at the 2006 World Cup in Germany and said that if the team can qualify for the semifinals he is definitely "going places.''
