Zamalek claim Stephen Appiah deal

Sources within Zamalek Football Club have told GHANAsoccernet.com they have reached an agreement to sign ex-Ghana captain Stephen Appiah.

A club official who spoke to GHANAsoccernet.com on the condition of anonymity said the Cairo-based side have agreed a two-year deal with the former Fenerbahce man.

Appiah has been a free agent since leaving Italian Serie A side Cesena at the end of last season's campaign.

The 30-year-old becomes the second Ghanaian player to join the five-time African champions in the offseason after youngster Karim Alhassan was snapped up two months ago on a free.

He will become the second biggest signing for Hassan Shehata's side after Benin talisman Razak Omotoyossi.

Zamalek have not won the league in three seasons and are bent on re-writing the script when the new Egyptian League season begins in October.
