AC Milan deal for Villarreal defender back on the cards

Published on: 17 July 2016

Despite previous money problems, AC Milan could soon capture Villarreal defender Mateo Musacchio as the Spanish side look for a replacement.

The 25-year-old is top of new Rossoneri boss Vincenzo Montella’s wanted list, but they had previously been forced to settle for either Shkodran Mustafi or Alvaro Arbeloa, as Milan couldn’t afford the high cost of Musacchio.

However, according to Mundo Deportivo, the fee for Musacchio could be about to drop significantly as his current employers have anticipated his exit and are preparing an offer for Manchester United man Marcos Rojo.

SkySport24 has also reported that Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani has met with representatives of Musacchio.

The Argentine defender moved to the Spanish La Liga in 2009 from River Plate and was a member of Villarreal’s B side before being promoted to their main squad in 2010.
