Boro should embrace Albert Adomahââ¬â¢s rousing return after his bust-up with the boss.
That was the message of unity from Adam Clayton as he drew a line under a stand-off he said was a storm in a tea-cup.
ââ¬ÅWeââ¬â¢re all grown men,â⬠said midfielder Clayton. ââ¬ÅIt was something and nothing.
ââ¬ÅItââ¬â¢s time to move on and pull together to get Boro promoted.ââ¬
Frozen out flanker Adomah came in from the cold with an assist, a goal and a big touchline hug from the boss in the 3-1 midweek win over Brentford.
His goal was greeted with rapturous applause from fans, a group hug among the players and a symbolic cuddle with the coach to end an uncomfortable internal exile in style.
ââ¬ÅThat was nice to see,â⬠said Clayton, who almost nicked a late fourth goal himself.
The Ghana winger had been dropped after a post-match flare-up following defeat to Bristol, slapped in a transfer request and then spent a sticky spell training alone.
Former fixture Adomah was left out of the squad for three games sparking fevered speculation among supporters.
But the tricky flanker returned to action with a bang.
And Clayton is delighted the stand-off has been resolved.
ââ¬ÅWhen he scored his goal all the players celebrated with him,â⬠said Clayton.
ââ¬ÅThere was a good feeling around the stadium and a good feeling about the team after he ran over and had that big hug with the gaffer.
ââ¬ÅAlbert is still a part of this team and he was a massive part of it last year so it is good to have him back in it.
ââ¬ÅSometimes people fall out and sometimes people have arguments and thatââ¬â¢s life.
ââ¬ÅIt was only a little incident of the kind that Iââ¬â¢ve seen probably 300 times in my career but it got blown a little bit out of proportion,â⬠he explained.
ââ¬ÅBut weââ¬â¢re all grown men. Itââ¬â¢s gone now. I think there in front of everyone it was proved that it's all in the past now.
ââ¬ÅSense has been found and heââ¬â¢s back in the team. And of course everyone is happy to have him back.
ââ¬ÅHeââ¬â¢s a top player at this level so it is good that the manager has another option to pick from to try and get us a win because thatââ¬â¢s what matters in the end.
ââ¬ÅEverything that happened in the past has gone, every one is pulling in same direction.
ââ¬ÅEveryone in this club is trying to get us into the Premier League. If we can keep that togetherness and that hunger and desire and keep that going then we wonââ¬â¢t be far off.ââ¬
