Ghana forward Andre Ayew is in the running to win his second successive Player of the Month award on the English Premier League after being named in a shortlist for September’s gong.

The 25-year-old will however face stiffer opposition this term as he is gunning against Anthony Martial who has hogged the headlines for his impressive performances since joining Manchester United.

Ayew won the debut Player of the Month award for the new season last month having scored four goals for Swansea.

But the Welsh club have declined in form since the resumption of the league after the international break.

Garry Monk’s side are still in search of their first league win since the turn of the month.

The goals have also dried up for Andre Ayew who took the Premiership by storm from the onset.

The Ghana international is however once more again nominated for the monthly award alongside Swansea teammate Bafetimbi Gomis.

Manchester City’s duo David Silva and Vincent Kompany are also in the running as is West Ham’s Dmitri Payet and Leicester City duo Jamie Vardy and Riyad Mahrez.
