Ghana youth midfielder Malik Akowuah has joined South Africa Premier League side Maritzburg United on a two-week trial session.

The 21-year-old AshantiGold player, regarded as one of the most promising players in the Ghana Premier League, is keen to impress coach Ian Palmer for a deal.

AshGold CEO Kudjo Fianoo told GHANAsoccernet.com Akowuah is likely to remain with the Pietermaritzburg-based side.

"The letter we received was from Maritzburg United. He will stay with the club for a maximum of two weeks. Their coach spotted him and in the CHAN tournament and has expressed interest in him. So lets see what comes out."

Akowuah was called up to the Ghana Under-23 side which defeated Nigeria 2-0 to qualify for the All Africa Games last weekend.
