Augsburg have explained the 25-year-old picked a knock while involved in the club's last training session thus missing the game with injury.
Weinzierl was forced to alter his game plan by introducing his second choice right-back option to start the game.
Opare's recent form has been influential for Augsburg after starting and completing all three of their recent Bundesliga games.
