Olympique Marseille star Andre Ayew is excited at the prospect of playing his first Ghana game before his hometown fans in Tamale.
Ghana will be hosting Guinea in the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier in Tamale on Wednesday.
It will be the first time the Black Stars played a competitive game in the Northern Region since the construction of the Tamale Stadium in 2008.
The Ghana FA is now making do with its earlier policy of rotating Black Stars matches across the four standard stadia within the country.
The Black Stars have played most of its recent home games in Kumasi but the relative hostility of the fans towards the last Ghana game served as a catalyst for the implementation of the GFA's rotational policy.
And Andre Ayew who hails from the North is bubbling with excitement ahead of his imminent international showcase before his 'people'.
"I have not played in Tamale before but I have been there so many times," he said.
"I am a northerner so having the opportunity to play before my people, my family and my friends is something great for me.
"I hope and pray that we finish this game with a victory."
Ghana will strengthen its lead at the top of Group E with a win over Guinea on Wednesday.
The Black Stars remain in the process of winning over the Ghanaian fans again following their poor showing at the 2014 World Cup.
