Borussia Dortmund manager Peter Bosz has slammed the "ridiculous" goals his side conceded in Friday's 2-1 loss to Stuttgart.
The loss continued Dortmund's recent slump in form. Bosz's men have now taken just one point from their last five league matches heading into Tuesday's Champions League clash with Tottenham.
Goalkeeper Roman Burki was at fault in both goals on the night, including the opener when a botched back-pass between Burki and Marc Bartra led to an open-net goal for Stuttgart striker Chadrac Akol.
And Bosz said after the match: "The defeat really hurts. We came here to win, so we're very disappointed. When you see the goals we conceded, it borders on the ridiculous. It hurts because we actually put in a relatively good performance in the first half.
"The team performed well after conceding the early goal, only the final ball was lacking. The second half wasn't as good. We need to keep going, we won't give up."
Andre Schurrle, who saw a penalty kick saved before Maximilian Philipp fired in the rebound, echoed Bosz's sentiments, calling the performance "annoying."
Borussia Dortmund gifted Stuttgart their opening goal on Friday.
"A match like that is very frustrating. After we virtually handed them the opener on a plate, we actually performed relatively well in the opening period," Schurrle said. "We had control, played good football, moved the ball around and got close to their goal. It was a shame that we didn't manage to get more than one goal.
"The second half was very annoying. We can't allow a performance like that in our current situation. We made too many mistakes and conceded one counter after another. It was almost harakiri stuff.
"The game was end to end, without a midfield. As Borussia Dortmund, one of the top teams, we cannot allow that. Every team has a chance against us if we play like that."
Meanwhile, Stuttgart boss Hannes Wolf hailed his side's display, while acknowledging there was some good fortune involved.
"Our tactics paid off perfectly. The early goal in the first half naturally played into our hands, thereafter we got a bit lucky in several situations and didn't defend so well until the break.
"But we were much better in the second period, we should've actually scored a third goal. I'm extremely proud of my team."
