Coach David Duncan rules out South African move

Ghanaian trainer David Duncan has ruled moving to South Africa to coach local Premier League side Maritzburg United.

The tough-talking coach quit as the coach of local side AshGold after falling out with one of the coaches at the club.

Duncan, who is the current coach of the Ghana U23 team, has been contacted by the South African side to take over the side.

Other Ghanaian sides have also been in touch since news of his AshGold departure broke.

But the Ghanaian coach will not make the move to South Africa insisting he wants concentrate on the Black Meteors.

“Coach Duncan has received many offers since news of him leaving AshGold broke,” spokesman Owuraku Bartels confirmed.

“Maritzburg United and another South Africa side have contacted us as well as some Ghanaian sides.

“Coach Duncan will not move to South Africa and wants to concentrate on the Ghana U23 team.”

Ashgold and Duncan reached an amicable settlement in a deal that will see the team compensate the Ghana Under-23 coach US$ 15,000 for abrogating his contract.

The club have contacted former King Faisal coach Zdravko Logarusic to take over the club.
