Ex-Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah and his Sudanese side Al Khartoum are on the brink of elimination in the Confederation Cup after losing their first leg tie 1-0 at home against SC Villa on Saturday.

Midfielder Taddeo Lwanga scored the only goal of the game in the 26th minute to give the Jogoos a first leg advantage despite travelling with just sixteen players.

Appiah and Al Khartoum must punch above their weight to overturn the deficit to progress to the next stage.

The return leg is in two weeks time.
