Dreams FC pipped AshantiGold in Obuasi

The 2015/16 Ghana Premier League season keeps getting exciting each passing week.

Last week’s results led to another coaching casualty, David Duncan was given the sack after Kotoko had slipped to 16th on the league log following a 1-0 defeat to Aduana.

Following the dismissal of David Duncan and the whole drama surrounding Asantehene’s visit to Kotoko’s training ground.

After having talks with the players who raised complaints about the ailing team bus the king promised them a new bus should they beat Liberty Professionals on Sunday.

Another person who made a promise in the build up to the weekend fixtures is non other than Liberty’s tricky attacker Latif Blessing.

The Kotoko reject before the game said he woul score a goal against his former side but promised he would not celebrate.  Like a prophecy he hit the back of the net as early as the 5th minute but contrary to his promise he celebrated the goal by running to the touch line. That was Latif Blessing 5th goal of the season.

When you desperately need a goal it doesn’t matter the way and manner you get it. Ahmed Adams got to the end of the corner kick and his header deflected off a Liberty defender into the net to give the low spirited Kotoko side an all important equalizer in the 24th minute. Eight minutes the result was overturned, youngster Dauda Mohammed shot the Porcupine Warriors into a 2-1 lead.

Liberty pressed for an equalizer after recess but the game was put to bed when Captain of Asante Kotoko Amos Frimpong made it 3-1 from a penalty kick.

The result shoots Kotoko from the bottom of the log to 9th place. Stand in coach Michael Osei will lead the team again next weekend when they travel to Dawu to face surprised package of the league Dreams FC.

Hearts of Oaks maintained their unbeaten away record with a hard fought draw at Techiman ruining the home side’s 100 percent record at home.

The Real Citizen have proven to be invincible at Nana Ameyaw  Park picking 9 points in three home games. In the game itself both sides cancelled out each other making the match a cagey one with occasional wizardry from fleet footed Baba Mahama lighting up play.

The goalless draw was a true reflection of the game. The Phobia Boys after the draw now trail league leaders Wa Allstars by 3 point.

Talking about Wa Allstars, they still remain the only unbeaten side in the league. At the Wa Park they were expected to make light works on Dwarfs but the Cape Coasters were well organized.

It took a thunder bolt from Allstars’ midfielder Atta Kofi Yeboah to separate the two sides. The Pride Of Upper East sit comfortably on top of the league, three points ahead of Hearts Of Oaks and Dreams FC

Dreams FC continued with their dream start with a surprise away win at Obuasi against Defending Champions Ashanti Gold.

Bashir Hayford has been under pressure from fans all week following week six’s 5-1 thumping by Liberty Professionals.

The coming week will not be any different courtesy a Emmanuel Hayford’s well taken freekick  goal which gave the away side a rare win at Obuasi to the dismay of the home fans. Shafiu Mumumi had the chance to equalize from a spot kick but he failed to hit the target fuelling rumors that the players are unhappy with the coach’s attitude.

The miners are now without a win in the league since week one’s win over Medeama SC.

At the Tema Park Inter Allies got back to winning ways having gone 5 league games without a win.

Isaac Twum opened the scores for the Harbour City Boys in the 32nd minute.

Former Nania FC midfielder Prince Baffoe doubled the scores from the spot 15th minutes after recess.

Gockel Ahortor’s 3rd goal in 3 consecutive games made it 3-0 for Herbert Mensah’s charges. Cape Coast born striker Ropapa Kwabena Mensah showed no mercy on Bechem United scoring his 2nd of the season to leave the results 4-0.

At the Berekum Golden City Park, Asiwome Fumador’s goal, his first touch after coming on was all Berekum Chelsea needed to beat Aduana Stars in the Bono derby.

The Blues have won all 4 home games keeping clean sheets in all.

Black Stars winger Samuel Tetteh gave the Soccer Academicians the lead via a spot kick in the first half.  His 5th of the season. Some how in the 2nd half New Edubiase surprised followers of the league by grabbing an equalizer through Prince Antwi. This is the first goal by an away side at Red Bull Arena.

The encounter between Hasaacas and Medeama was postponed because of the latter’s involvement in the CAF Confederations Cup. The Yellow&Mauves from Tarkwa made the nation proud by earning a away draw against El Ahly Shendi of Sudan.
