Ghana legend Razak Abdul Karim has expressed his interest in handling Ghana's senior national team.
According to Razak, coaching the Black Stars remains his number priority and will do everything possible to realize his dream but offered his backing to current coach, James Kwesi Appiah.
"I was very confident of getting the Black Stars coaching job when I submitted my application, but unfortunately I could not get it,” the 1978 Nations Cup winner told Kickgh.com
The former Asante Kotoko coach added, "Even though I was very much happy when my countryman (Kwesi Appiah) was given the top coaching job by the Ghana FA. I knew that he was going to lived up to expectations following his reappointment ahead of all the applicants for the hot seat.”
"My attention is now on the under 20 national male team and I am looking forward to get the opportunity to coach the lads at the youth level having missed the chance to manage the Black Stars so far."
"I would say the Black Satellites coaching role remains my topmost priority and I do not expect the Ghana FA to overlook me for the job. I am always ready to handle a national team and I think it is now my turn to do so,” he stated.
The former Asante Kotoko trainer believes his cordial relationship with his entourage will make him a better coach in handling the youth side as he will bring the best out of them at their budding stage.
"I have been with different set of players at any club that I have coached before and one thing that I have taken notice when I am with these lads is that they always feel excited to be around me right after our training sessions,” the former Al Ain FC kingpin noted.
He continued: ”You will see us playing joyfully and some will be saying coachee… coachee… we want our winning bonuses to be increased and you must try and convince management to do so on our behalf,”
"Some even go to the extent of saying we want to come and eat in your house so tell your wife to be ready for us. In fact, I believe with these cordial relationship the playing body will always be ready and play their hearts out for you as a coach.”
"So I think with this my managerial skills in honing talents, the lads will feel more comfortable playing under my care at their youthful level and they will realize their potentials as upcoming players.”
Razak nicknamed "Golden Boy” was adjudged African Footballer of the Year in 1978 after helping Ghana to annex the AFCON title that same year as host nation.
