Ghana president John Evans Atta Mills has charged the Football Association to focus on grassroot football to consolidate the country's credentials in the world.

Juvenile football which nurtured massive talents was hugely popular in the past but has seen its stock plummet over the past decade.

Addressing Parliament on his third State of Nations' Address on Thursday, President Mills, a former football administrator, charged on the football authorities to concentrate their attention on building colts football

"The Youth and Sports Ministry is being tasked to collaborate with the GFA and private stakeholders to rebuild colts football as a base for the growth of Ghana’s football, " he said.

"Colts football is the bedrock of developing talent in the country and therefore it’s imperative we give much attention to it to unearth many more talents for the nation especially at a time that we’re flying high on the African continent.

"I wish to take this opportunity to congratulate the Black Stars for their sterling performance over the past few years. We must strive to maintain the high standards Ghana has set in world football."
