Former Ghana youth defender Bright Addae has earmarked Aduana Stars and Asante Kotoko to advance to the next phase of their respective Africa club competitions.

The 2017/18 Ghana Premier League champion, Aduana Stars suffered a 1:0 defeat to Libyan side, Al Tahaddy in the first league in the preliminary of the CAF Champions League played in Egypt.

Ghana champions Aduana Stars started their CAF Champions League campaign on a losing note following a 1-0 defeat against Libyan side Al Tahaddy in the first leg of the preliminary round.

Meanwhile, MTN FA Cup holder's Asante Kotoko edged out Congolese side CARA Club 1-0 at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, a match were the Porcupine Warriors squandered three penalties award to them before striker Yakubu Mohammed came off the bench to convert the fourth one to hand them a narrow win.

However, Addae feels upbeat about the chances of the two teams making it to the next round of their respective competitions despite the pessimism amongst many Ghanaian supporters.

“The Kumasi Asante Kotoko SC brand as a whole should be intimidating enough to see them through on any day. The love shown by Ghanaians and the mental readiness of the players could be seen in the first leg and a similar one away from home will see them through," Addae told Ghanacrusader.com

"I have no doubt Kotoko cannot do the double and make Ghana proud in the CAF confederation cup. Sometimes luck is a necessity in football but in the first leg, they were not lucky. Hopefully, they will be lucky in the second leg."

On the side of Aduana Stars, Bright Addae urged Ghanaians to show them national support and rally behind them like a national team and not a club from Dormaa or Brong Ahafo Region.

“Now Aduana Stars is not a club anymore but a national team of a sort and must be given that nationwide support. A 1-0 scoreline is not beyond their power to overturn.

"With the needed atmosphere at the Dormaa Park, the opponents will surely fall massively", Addae added.
