Ghanaian players abroad Team of the Week: Koomson, Acheampong, Kadiri, Owusu and Essien headline this week's ToTW

After the conclusion of weekend games across the globe, Ghana's leading football website, GHANASoccernet.com bring to you our regular best 11 Ghanaian players in the various leagues.

Formation: 4-1-4-1

Adam Kwarasey (Valeranga-Norway)

There was nothing fancy about Kwarasey in Valeranga 2-1 win over SK Brann but was decent, steady and he was rarely troubled but on two occasions he stood tall. Brann were unlucky not to get something out this game as they pushed for the equalizer late on in the match. The former Portland Timbers shot stopper has found form again since returning to Norway.

Claud Adjapong (Sassuolo-Italy)

We are blessed with talented right backs and surely this lad is among the bunch. The 20-year-old was a delight to watch in their 1-0 win against Bologna on Sunday. He whipped in very good crosses, would be one hell of player for Ghana in no distant future, he provided a perfect chance for his teammate Dominico Berardi which was saved by goalkeeper Pirin, a top save at the other end.

Emmanuel Adjei Sowah (Anderlecht-Belgium)

This lad has shown promise ever since he burst onto the some few years ago but he found first team playing time difficult to come by under former coach Rene Weiler. However, in post Weiler era, the former Dream FC youth product was handed a rare start in their  2-1 win against Waasland-Beveren, and he grasped it.

Adjei was decent, cleared four goal bound moves, very steady and produced top notch defending all through the match, one of the best players for Anderlecht on the day.

Jonathan Mensah (Columbus CREW-USA)

Mensah has seemed like a new signing for Columbus Crew for the past weeks after a difficult start to life in the Major League Soccer. Growing in confidence, great reading of the game coupled with his eye for goal. He gave New York Red Bulls attackers hell of a time especially after getting his name on the score sheet. Mensah made seven clean tackles in the match and four interceptions, which was the highest in all the matches played in the MLS over the weekend.

Kadiri Mohammed (Austria Vienna-Austria)

I'm happy to see this lad recover from his horrendous performance against AC Milan in the Europa League fortnight ago. He was the tower that made things happened for Vienna at the back at a difficult ground against Red Bull Salzburg. He was one the main reasons Thorsten Fink's side picked a point in the game. Kadiri won an amazing tally of five tackles ahead of all other players.

Michael Essien (Persib Bandung-Indonesia)

Essien is showing no sign of slowing down per the performance he put up against Bhayangkara United on Sunday.

He was too strong for the league leaders midfielders, great in tackles and his distributions were top notch. Technically overpowered his opponents with confidence of a veteran. He capped his superb display with a goal to earn a point for his team.

Albert Adomah (Aston Villa-England)

For two successive weeks Adomah has found a place in my team of the week. The speedy winger is gradually becoming the most important player for manager Steve Bruce in their promotion push. After scoring a brace for the side last week, the 27-year-old was at it again when he put the Villans in cruise control in the win against Nottingham Forest. Not just his goals but his work rate and his pace caused Forest so many headaches.

Abu Danladi (Minnesota United-USA)

The most improved Ghanaian player in the Major League Soccer at the moment. The manner in which this lad keeps the ball at his feet is a delight to watch. He dictated the pace of the game for Minnesota in their 4-1 thumping of FC Dallas. He could virtually do everything with the ball and the goal he scored was evident of his fast developing quality.

Gilbert Koomson (Sogndal-Norway)

Koomson was the orchestrator for Sogndal in the 1-0 win at Aalesund FK. He was a constant threat to the hosts defenders and anytime he had the ball at his feet, something happened. Most of his side's attacks were initiated by him. What caught my eye most was the defense splitting pass he gave to Schulze to power home the winner, reminded me former Barça great Xavi Hernandez.

Frank Acheampong (Tianjin Teda-China)

What a time to open your account for your new club? The pacy winger set Tianjin ablaze in the derby game against Quanijian. Acheampong was a threat throughout the match and could have had hat-trick in the match.

William Owusu (Royal Antwerp-Belgium)

Owusu scored in fourth consecutive games for Antwerp as he opened the scoring in their 3-0 win over Kortrijk. He's been knocking on my team of the week for some time now following his remarkable performances in the Jupilar Pro League but competition for places has been his bane.

His constant pace was too much for his opponents to handle. He was good in the air and could have ended the match with a with brace but fluffed his line. However, his overall performance merited a place in my team of the week.
