Ghana midfielder Emmanuel Agyemang Badu's hopes of playing for the Black Stars at the World Cup is hanging by a thread because of injury.

The 19-year-old, who plays for Italian side Udinese, apparently suffered a knee injury during Sunday's Serie A game against Cagliari.

Badu came on as a substitute for Ferronetti in the 49th minute but was replaced by Cuadrado 26 minutes later because of the setback.

It is not known how long he will be out for but the decision to take him out of the game leave his World Cup dreams in a balance.

He will have further tests on the knee later on Monday to reveal the extent of damage.

Badu was desperate for a call-up from coach Milovan Rajevac after hitting the ground running in his career in Europe but this injury is threatening to stall his dream.

He signed for Udinese after helping Ghana’s U20s to win the World Cup later last year and also helped the Black Stars finish second at the Africa Cup of Nations.
