An abysmal Atletico Madrid unceremoniously crashed out of the Copa del Rey as they were outclassed 3-1 by Sevilla (5-2 on aggregate).
The writing was on the wall from very early on -- 23 seconds to be precise -- as Sergio Escudero ghosted in unmarked to volley the Andalusians into the lead. Atleti then woke up and Antoine Griezmann's stunning long-ranger dragged them back into the tie.
As in the first leg, profligate finishing then came back to haunt Los Rojiblancos, with Griezmann, Kevin Gameiro and Angel Correa all culpable of missing gilt-edged chances before Ever Banega and Pablo Sarabia made them pay after the break.
Positives
Nothing. There is absolutely nothing positive to take from this.
Negatives
The club's most realistic chance of silverware has gone for another season, the performance levels were awful, and the club are now three without a win in all competitions. Diego Costa cannot return soon enough.

3 -- Diego Simeone Picked a team that had enough to get the job done, but looked bereft of ideas and he was sent to the stands as frustration got the better of him.

GK Miguel Angel Moya, 3 -- Suffice to say Jan Oblak will not be losing any sleep. Let the first two shots on target in, looked flustered and likely will not be seen again this season.
DF Sime Vrsaljko, 4 -- A brilliant attacking outlet in the first half, he twice set up teammates for chances they should have buried, but his primary job is to defend: he did not track Escudero's run and the rest is history.
DF Jose Maria Gimenez, 5 -- Should have scored from a header after two minutes. Better than his partner. That is about all you can say.
DF Diego Godin, 3 -- Uncharacteristically flustered, but that is how he has been all season. Played Moya a hospital backpass after about 15 minutes which provided a fitting summary of his form of late. Will be lucky not to be dropped
DF Lucas Hernandez, 5 -- Should have closed down the cross which led to the opener. Unlucky that Filipe Luis is injured as he would otherwise surely get a run at centre-back. Is decent enough against mediocre opposition out wide, but gets found out against top opposition.
MF Koke, 4 -- Needs to offer more in these kind of matches. Looks like he has lost his confidence and even his usually reliable set pieces are not finding the right areas.
MF Gabi, 5 -- Booked for handbags, that that was his biggest contribution to the game about sums that up. Subbed at 2-1 as Los Colchoneros sought a way back into things.

MF Saul Niguez, 3 -- AWOL. Is playing game after game after game, however he looks mentally and physically exhausted. Needs a break, however one does not look to be forthcoming.
MF Angel Correa, 2 -- Given another start, however once again showed that he is at best an impact sub. Should have made it 2-2 but fluffed a one-on-one that might have changed things.
FW Antoine Griezmann, 6 -- The only player to come away with any credit. A sensational goal dragged Atleti back into the game, however he too was guilty of missing a couple of presentable chances you would expect him to bury.
FW Kevin Gameiro, 4 -- Missed a free header at 1-1 that he needed to do better with. Costa was greatly missed.
Substitutes
FW Fernando Torres, 5 (for Gabi) -- Is he really the man to bring on when in desperate need of a goal? Probably not.
MF Yannick Carrasco, 4 (for Correa) -- Miscontrolled a straightforward ball to sum up his side's woes of late.
MF Thomas Partey, 5 (for Gimenez) -- Should have started. Brought on when it was too little, too late.
