Iraq handed Olympics boost with 1-0 win over Korea Republic

Sao Paulo: Iraq's Olympic team beat their Korea Republic counterparts 1-0 in Sao Paulo on Sunday as both sides continued their preparations for Rio 2016.

Saad Abdul Amir, who plies his trade with Saudi top flight Al Qadisiyah, found the net on 16 minutes in the Iraqis' last friendly before the Olympic football tournament starts.

They will kick off their Group A campaign against Denmark before facing hosts Brazil and South Africa.

Meanwhile, Korea Republic will have their last preparatory match against Sweden on July 30 ahead of their Group C opener against Fiji on August 4. Mexico and Germany are their other opponents.

Korea Republic and Iraq qualified for the Olympics after finishing in the top three of January's  AFC U23 Championship Qatar 2016.
