Asante Kotoko could swoop for promising winger Richard Mpong after he turned down an offer to sign for Adana Demirspor.

The highly-rated Medeama player sneeked into the country on Monday night after he received death threats following his refusal to sign with the newly promoted Turkish outfit.

The Premier League Champions are likely to re-ignite their interest in the workaholic enforcer having been made aware of his availability.

Mpong, considered as one of the rising stars in the country has not hidden his desire to play for the Porcupine Warriors if a move to an European club falls through.

The situation has sparked fresh reports of Kotoko's pursuit of the player, having tracked him for the past two years.

The meteoric rise of the right-winger saw him score on his Black Stars debut in the 1-1 draw against Chile in an international friendly at the PPL Park in Chester, Pennsylvania early this year.

Mpong was a member of the Ghana Under-17 team who finished fourth at the 2007 FIFA World Cup in Korea

He played a key role in the Ghana Under-23 side who won gold at the 2011 All Africa Games in Maputo, Mozambique.
