Lazio coach facing imminent dismissal

Despite Lazio‘s 1-1 draw against AC Milan on Sunday, coach Stefano Pioli’s job remains at risk as it is likely that he and the club will part ways at the end of the season.

The Biancocelesti have fallen a long way from last season which saw them finish third in Serie A, sealing a place for the Champions League qualifiers, as they are currently eighth with their European hopes already gone.

Consequently, Italian newspaper Il Tempo reported that president Claudio Lotito is currently looking for alternatives, with Sinisa Mihajlovic, Walter Mazzarri and Cesare Prandelli being at the top of his list.

Just like Pioli, Mihajlovic is expected to be leaving the Rossoneri at the end of the campaign, as he and owner Silvio Berlusconi have differing ideas regarding the club’s direction.

However, Lazio’s coach could also face an immediate sack in case of a possible heavy defeat during the upcoming Derby della Capitale after the international break.

Lazio have won just once in their last five Serie A outings, and have suffered a 3-0 home defeat at the hands of Sparta Prague in the Europe League round of 16 second leg last week, crashing out of the competition.
