Liverpool frustrated in defeat at Swansea

Liverpool followed up their victory over Premier League leaders Manchester City by losing 1-0 to bottom side Swansea on Monday.

Just eight days of becoming the first side to beat Man City in the league this season, Jurgen Klopp's side were frustrated at the Liberty Stadium after Alfie Mawson provided the only goal late in the first half.

Liverpool controlled 65 percent of possession in the first half, but they were behind after 40 minutes when the ball fell to Mawson following a corner and he put the ball into the bottom corner.

Sadio Mane had a chance to equalise before the break, but his attempt at a volley sliced off his foot wide of the net.

And chances were equally difficult to come by after the break, Danny Ings dragging a shot wide on 77 minutes.

Liverpool thought they had a last-gasp equaliser, but somehow Roberto Firmino struck the post with an open header from five yards, and Adam Lallana could not find the net with a follow-up from close range.

Klopp's men remained three points back of third-place Chelsea and two clear of Tottenham in fifth, while Swansea are still bottom, but now only on goal difference below West Brom, and are now only three points outside of 17th.
