Man Utd, Barca chase Santos wantaway Lima

Published on: 22 September 2017

Deadline day has come and gone, and all the latest deals and potential deals can be found here, but there's plenty brewing in the market as clubs begin to look toward January.

Man United to battle Barca for Lucas Lima

Manchester United could emerge as rivals to Barcelona to land Lucas Lima on a free transfer in January, claims the Manchester Evening News.

The Santos star has refused to extend his deal and will allow his contract to expire at the end of the calendar year.

The Blaugrana were thought to have a deal in place, but more suitors have emerged after Ernesto Valverde signed Paulinho and Ousmane Dembele.

Crystal Palace and Fenerbahce made offers this summer, but Lucas should have bigger clubs making moves at the turn of the year, with his agent Luccas Badia revealing Barcelona, Roma, Inter and United have all made enquiries.

Milan eye Jankto

AC Milan are ready to resume their mass spending once the January transfer window opens, with Corriere dello Sport reporting Jakub Jankto could be a player they bid heavily for.

The 21-year-old has shone for Udinese and attracted some of Europe's biggest clubs to send scouts to keep tabs on him in recent weeks.

Typically a box-to-box midfielder, the Czech starlet could help Vincenzo Montella to use a more fluid 4-3-3 system alongside Franck Kessie either side of a holding midfielder.

Real set for 'panic' spend in January

Real Madrid could splash the cash to solidify Zinedine Zidane's side after a sloppy start to the season.

Los Blancos are already seven points behind Barcelona in La Liga, meaning the two-time reigning Champions League winners will line up several pricey targets to help them make a strong push in the second half of the season.

And the Daily Star suggests Paulo Dybala, Antoine Griezmann (given Diego Costa's impending arrival at Atleti) and Timo Werner are all under consideration.

After selling Alvaro Morata to Chelsea, Real are left with only unorthodox options or Borja Mayoral to back up Karim Benzema.

Tap-ins

- RB Leipzig are keen to tie down super-talent Dayot Upamecano with Bild reporting Liverpool are keen on the young defender.

The 18-year-old has started well in the Bundesliga, alerting some of Europe's biggest clubs to the emergence of the next great centre-back.

- Atletico Madrid goalkeeper Jan Oblak has brushed aside speculation that he is being lined up to succeed Gianluigi Buffon at Juventus.

- Burnley have signed former Manchester United goalkeeper Anders Lindegaard until the end of the season.

Lindegaard, 33, moves to Turf Moor following the shoulder injury suffered by first-choice Tom Heaton in the home game against Crystal Palace.
