Man Utd consider paying out Rooney contract

Manchester United captain Wayne Rooney is due a massive payout should he leave in the coming days.

The Times says Rooney could receive an incredible £15 million pay-off from United if he makes a move to the Chinese Super League in the summer.

The England forward, 31, is currently in talks to become the highest-paid player in world football, with an annual salary of £52m.

Rooney's agent Paul Stretford is currently in China negotiating the money-spinning deal.

Should he decide to stay at United in the summer, the club may pay off the rest of his contract… £15.6m.

Jose Mourinho's men are not contractually obliged to make the payment, but as Rooney has been at the club since 2004, he is likely to receive a loyalty cheque.
