Mancini leaves door open for Inter’s Scudetto challenge

Following a successful start to the Serie A season, coach Roberto Mancini has not closed the door on Inter mounting a Scudetto challenge.

Having finished the year as champions at Christmas, the Nerazzurri have returned to training in Doha, Qatar where they will play a friendly against Paris Saint-Germain on December 30.

“I am happy to be here in Qatar,” Mancini told reporters at a pre-match press conference.

“We have to concentrate on doing well at Empoli and the match against PSG will be a good test.

“The French are among the best in Europe but we are Inter and you can never predict what will happen when two great teams meet.”

The 51-year-old also indicated that anything could happen in the race for the Scudetto with the Biscione currently holding a three-point lead at the top.

“We have grown a lot since the beginning of the year,” Mancini continued.

“The league is strange, at the beginning we were only aiming for the Champions League but now, who knows?

“We want to do the best we can.”
