Medeama have emerged surprise front-runners to sign Aduana Stars’ defender Godfred Saka.

The 24-year-old who still has one year left to run on his existing contract with the 2010 league champions looked set to join Berekum Chelsea who are looking to add more quality to their side for their Caf Champions League campaign.

Their slackness according to the left-back in sealing the deal has opened a wide window of opportunity for the Tarkwa-based side to hijack the deal.

“I had preliminary talks with Chelsea but have since not heard from them and now Medeama have come for discussions,” he told Angel FM.

“It is because of the football not money that is why I have taken the decision to move.

“As a player, you don’t go chasing a club, it is the club that chases you if really they want you and so far Medeama have shown that committment.”

Saka who emerged as Aduana’s top scorer last season with seven goals was voted the most promising footballer of the 2009/2010 Ghana Premier League season.
