Neil Maddison backing Middlesbrough to stay up

Former Middlesbrough midfielder Neil Maddison believes they can stay up.

Maddison says that Head Coach Steve Agnew's first game in charge, at home against Manchester United, offered hope heading into the international break.

“We've got to show some grit and determination. The game against Man United it does fill you with a bit of hope that we can do it," he told Boro's website.

“I think Joe Jordan coming in will be working down those lines and giving everyone hope.

“It was always going to be hard but the team spirit and togetherness is all there to see.

“I certainly am confident. We've got the squad to do it."
