Ghana Premier League side New Edubiase have threatened to boycott their Premier League match against AshantiGold scheduled for next Wednesday for fear of their lives.

Edubiase claim the Miners have threatened to beat their travelling fans and hence their decision to abandon their trip to the Obuasi Len Clay Stadium.

AshantiGold followers were attacked and beaten by Edubiase fans during the corresponding fixture in Bekwai and are bent on retaliating.

The club have officially written to the Premier League Board to shift their match to a neutral venue describing the venue as a ''dangerous ground'' for football.

"We have reliable information that fans of the club have been meeting and what we gather is that they are bent on beating our fans if the travel to watch the match. That’s why we are saying we won't honour the match," Edubiase club president Abdul Salam Yakubu said

"Go to Obuasi and listen to the radio stations and you will hear some of things that they’re saying. Some are very shocking. The supporters' umbrella body (Shaft) has met officially and are in bed with the fans who have decided to beat us when we visit them."

Edubiase shared the Len Clay stadium with AshantiGold during their debut season in the Premier League last year but decided to change venue due to lack of support.
