According to reports in the United Kingdom, Chelsea are ready to allow Ghana star Christian Atsu a permanent transfer to newly promoted Newcastle United.

The Blues want a £6.5million deal done within a week after the end of the season.

Chelsea have barely used Atsu in his four years on the books at Stamford Bridge, and are unsurprisingly prepared to finally cut their ties with him in this summer’s transfer window.

Atsu joined the Premier League leaders from Porto but has been loaned out an incredible five times, struggling to impress at the top level in any of those stints.

However, Atsu has looked better after stepping down to the Championship this season, and Newcastle now have to decide if they want to keep him after playing a key role to the Magpies securing promotion back to the English topflight.

Personal terms have already been agreed as part of his loan deal, and ESPN claim the Magpies have until a week after the end of the club season to complete the transfer.
