No charity match reunion for Ferdinand, Terry

Published on: 13 November 2015

John Terry and Rio Ferdinand will not be reunited in a UNICEF friendly match after the former Manchester United defender withdrew from the game.

Ferdinand and Terry had not spoken since Terry was banned by the FA for using abusive language towards Ferdinand's younger brother Anton.

Ferdinand said in his autobiography that he "found it impossible to forgive or forget the pain he [Terry] put my family through".

The former England central defensive pairing were set to feature in the UNICEF game announced for next month.

However, a statement accompanying a revised squad list does not include Ferdinand saying: "Players who were originally scheduled to play including Rio Ferdinand, Andy Cole, Fabio Cannavaro, Alessandro Nesta and Massimo Ambrosini can no longer attend Saturday's match."
