Promising Ghana star Christian Atsu started his pre-season training with his parent Portuguese club FC Porto on Monday.

The 20-year-old has been recalled by the Portuguese giants following impressive outing with Rio Ave where her was on loan last season.

He was among the 24 players who started their pre-season training on Monday.

His rise to stardom with the Black Stars has convinced Porto leaders that he is ready for the toughness of top-flight Portuguese football.

Atsu was a big hit on loan at Portuguese top-flight side Rio Ave where he was named the club’s Player of the Year.

He scored six goals in 26 appearances last term.

Atsu made his Ghana debut as a second half substitute last month in a 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifier and scored in the 7-0 drubbing of Lesotho.

The midfielder won the FIFA Blue Stars Youth Cup Best Player Award in August 2011 and went ahead to be named FC Porto’s Best Young Player Award the same year.

He is scheduled to travel with the Porto first team to Prangins, Switzerland from 9 July to 15 July for their full pre-season session.

Atsu will be subjected to medical tests on Monday afternoon.
