WAFA U16 lost 4-3 on penalties to FC Red Bull Salzburg to miss out on winning the 2015 Next Generation Trophy in Austria.

The Ghanaian side rallied from a goal down to draw 1-1 in regulation and force the match into penalties.

An early injury suffered by key man Aminu Mohammed, who broke his wrist two minutes into the match, affected the team.

The Young Bulls set the tone from the start in the eagerly awaited final, getting the first big chance via their captain, Wallquist.

After Antosch denied a good opportunity for Adem, Ralf Santelli’s team got a deserved opening goal with Anselm.

In the second half, the Africans were able to equalise with a speculative shot from Iyeki.

With the game drawn 1-1, a penalty shoot-out would decide who would get their hands on the trophy.

The Young Bulls had the better of it thanks to two penalty saves from Antosch.
