An action-packed second half of the year awaits Asia's football fans

Kuala Lumpur: The second half of the year promises to provide yet more enthralling action for football fans across Asia, with a host of high profile tournaments sure to capture the imagination.

From football to futsal, and from club competitions to centralised tournaments galore, the next six months have something for everyone. Here's a handy reference to exactly what is coming from July through to December.

  • AFC Futsal Club Championship Thailand 2016 in Bangkok from July 15th until the 23rd.
  • Olympic Games from August 3 to 20. Asia’s men’s teams in Brazil will be Japan, Iraq and Korea Republic. China and Australia will be the continent’s women’s representatives.
  • August 21 - Augsut 27 - nine clubs will begin their bid to claim three spots in the next phase of qualifying for the 2017 AFC Cup.
  • The mouthwatering first legs of the AFC Champions League quarter-finals will be played on August 23 and 24.
  • The qualifying competition for the AFC U-16 Women’s Championship 2017 will then take place from August 27 until September 5.
  • The FIFA World Cup Russia 2018 final qualifying round will then kick off on September 1 and continue on September 6.
  • September 6 will also see the first leg of the AFC Asian Cup UAE 2019 Playoff 2 taking place.
  • The action then shifts to Colombia who will host the FIFA Futsal World Cup 2017 from September 10 to October 1. Asia will be represented by Iran, Uzbekistan, Thailand, Vietnam and Australia.
  • The continent’s competitions calendar will resume with the AFC Champions League quarter-finals second leg and AFC Cup quarter-finals first leg which will happen on September 13-14.
  • September 15 to October 2.- we head to India for the the AFC U-16 Championship 2016.
  • The eight teams in the AFC Cup quarter-finals then meet again in the second leg on September 20-21.
  • And the semi-finals of both the AFC Champions League and AFC Cup will begin with the first leg on September 27-28.
  • These will be followed by the continuation of Russia 2018 final qualifiers on October 6 and 11.
  • October 11 will also see the second leg of the UAE 2019 Playoff 2.
  • Bahrain will then be the centre of attention when the AFC U-19 Championship 2016 kicks off on October 13 and concludes on October 30.
  • Then, the finalists of the AFC Champions League and AFC Cup will be determined when the second leg of the semi-finals takes palce on October 18-19.
  • The AFC U-19 Women’s Championship 2017 Qualifiers will follow suit from October 29 to November 6.
  • The inaugural edition of the AFC Solidarity Cup 2016 will then take place on November 2-15.
  • This will be followed by the AFC Cup Final on November 5.
  • Russia 2018 final qualifying round then resumes 10 days later, on November 15.
  • Asian football fans will then be treated to the first leg of the AFC Champions League Final on November 19.
  • And the winners of the AFC Champions League will be known on November 26 when the second leg of the final takes place.
  • The Asian competitions calendar will close with the FIFA Club World Cup Japan 2016 on December 8-18.
