SERIE A - Napoli, Di Lorenzo: "We want to turn things around for our fans"

Published on: 17 December 2021

Commenting upon how things are going with Napoli, including some recent pits and fall turning out, 28-year old Italian international right-back and wide midfielder Giovanni Di Lorenzo stated:

"We’re totally focused ahead of the Milan game and we believe we can put in a good performance. I love playing football and getting a lot of game time. If I could I would play ever game. Sometimes fatigue is a factor but my desire to play trumps it. We go into this game following a painful defeat to Empoli. I’m sorry for what happened with the goal. Now it’s time to think about the future and away from this negative period.

There’s no doubt we’ve been unlucky; we’ve had a so many players out as of late. We’ve really appreciated the fans backing because they’ve acknowledged how hard we’re trying. Like I said, now it’s about making up for the Empoli defeat and looking forward. As for AC Milan at San Siro, we’re aware that we’ll be facing a great opponent who are on top form. It’ll be a tough game but we’re preparing ourselves as best as we can in order to come home with some points. We always aim to win games and Sunday will be no different.

We’re really focused. We know how good AC Milan are and we’ll need to cancel them out and make our mark on the game. I feel the warmth from the fans and that drives me on to give my all. Yet it’s not just me: the whole squad feel the Napoli fans’ love and we want to turn things around for them.

As for our Europa League tie against Barcelona, it’s sure to be a great and tough tie but we’re keen to do well in Europe and no team scares us. We’ve got a lot of respect for Barcelona but we’ll give our all to try to make the next round”.
