Andre Ayew targets dream French title with Marseille

Marseille forward Andre Ayew says winning Ligue 1 alongside manager Didier Deschamps would be a dream come true.

OM won the trophy last year while the Seclin-born Ghana international was on loan with Arles and with just three points separating the club from table-topping Lille, Ayew is desperate to play his part in a repeat performance.

Ayew, who can play on the wing or through the middle, has scored nine league goals this season and will be looking to add to his tally when he lines up against Montpellier at the Stade de la Mosson on Sunday.

"The club have been there last year, it must have been magnificent and grand," he told the club's official website.

"We want to know that feeling again and personally, the opportunity to win the title with my manager is my dream.

"I will continue to give my best regardless of the position I play but we have arrived at a point where you cannot think only of yourself.

"There is a job to do this year so we must stand up and keep believing.

"It will take determination and aggression, more than last Sunday (a 2-2 draw with Toulouse). There are eight matches left in Ligue 1 and we must respond to each fixture."

Sunday's match is the first of two in a week between the two sides, followed as it is by a Coup de la Ligue final at the Stade de France on April 23.

Ordinarily that match may take overriding prominence, rendering the league clash as little more than a curtain raiser, but with the Ligue 1 title very much achievable Ayew insists both matches are of equal importance.

"These two games are similar; that is to say we must win both matches," he said.
