Ghana midfielder Andre Ayew is among players who could be sold by Marseille to enable the French side sign new players, a top official of the club has confirmed.

Sporting director Jose Anigo has said that the club need to sell players before they think about buying this summer and confirmed that they are looking to promote their own youngsters into the first team squad.

Ayew is arguably the club's most prized asset who has been linked with moves to several clubs including Arsenal and Liverpool.

He could be sold with other top players of the club which could spark fresh interest from Arsenal and Liverpool.

Les Phoceens recently appointed Elie Baup as their new coach after the previous boss Didier Deschamps left Stade Velodrome amid reports of turmoil within the club.

And Anigo has confirmed that the club will have to offload one of their big-name players if they are to bring in anyone new for the upcoming season.

"We must release a player before recruiting," he told Eurosport.

"But our young players will mesh nicely into the squad. It would be useless to look elsewhere for what you already have.

"The new philosophy of the club is to develop our academy."

Marseille finished the 2011-12 Ligue 1 season in a disappointing 10th place, but qualified for the Europa League thanks to their Coupe de la Ligue win.
