Cagliari are making a surprise approach for free agent  Sulley Muntari and are willing to break the bank for the Ghana international.

According to Sky Sport Italia, the newly-promoted Sardinians are determined to bring more experience and prestige to their Serie A squad.

Muntari a Ghana international and a former  Milan and Inter midfielder is seen an idle addition to the Youth of Cagliari.

He turns 32 next month and is a free agent after his contract with Ittihad expired.

Muntari spent most of his career in Italy with Udinese, Inter and Milan, but also had spells in England for Portsmouth and Sunderland.

The Ghana international is known for his crunching tackles and determination in midfield.
