Andre Ayew has become a key player for Swansea City

Swansea City winger Andre Ayew is aware that their English Premier League opener against champions Chelsea will be tough but insists the Swans will be up for the challenge.

Ayew joined the Welsh side from French giants Marseille this month and will have a baptism of fire when they face the Blues a week on Saturday.

Andre netted his first Swansea goal against Nottingham Forest in pre-season on Saturday as they prepare for the start of the season.

The son of Ghana legend Abedi Pele is confident the Welsh club can back up last season’s record-breaking effort with another strong campaign.

“We have a difficult game first up against Chelsea but I am really looking forward to it," the Ghana international said.

“The standard of the squad is very, very high and I have been impressed with what I have found at Swansea and I think we can have a good season.”
