Samuel Boadu and Medeama's relationship has turned sour

Medeama feels "extremely hurt" by Samuel Boadu's "pitch resignation" after the club handed him his first Premier League opportunity, the club's Communication chief Patrick Akoto has revealed.

The Ghana Under-15 coach shocked the Mauve and Yellows back in February after handing in his resignation at the Akoon Park following the side's 2-0 win over Techiman Eleven Wonders.

The action of the former Asokwa Deportivo trainer is reported to have hurt club President Moses Armah and practically damaged his long-standing relationship with the Tarkwa-based side.

Medeama roped in the young gaffer, trusting him with a huge responsibility of managing the huge club when he was managing third-tier side Shooting Stars.

Boadu managed to build a crack team, finishing top of the table in two uncompleted seasons in 2016-2017 and 2018-2019.

He had been earmarked for a long term project at the club after he signed a two-year contract extension but opted to leave, two months into the remaining 22 months.

The fantastic relationship that existed between the two parties have turned sour after the coach resigned from his role to join giants Hearts of Oak and the circumstances still hurt the two-time FA Cup winners.

"The club feels hurt by way the Sammy (Samuel Boadu) resigned. He resigned on a pitch and that has really hurt the club President and the team," The club's Communication chief Patrick Akoto told Tarkwa-based Mining City Radio.

"We gave him a huge opportunity but the club feels he slapped us on the face in the most hurtful manner.

"It's not easy for a club cast in the stature of Medeama to give a lower-tier coach such a monumental opportunity but we believed in him and gave him a shot.

"The club has no difficulty if he wants to quit and move on. However, its important for employees to always bear in mind the circumstances and how they exit any company. It will always be used as a future reference.

"He was given the much needed respect and support but we feel he has betrayed us in the most gut-wrenching manner. It's a lesson well learnt by the club going forward."

The Mauve and Yellows have dragged Boadu and his assistant Hamza Obeng to the Ghana Football Association, seeking for substantial damages for breach of their contracts.

The Tarkwa-based side say the decision by coaches Samuel Boadu and Hamza Obeng are "premature, hasty, arbitrary, unacceptable and above all abuse of office as an employee" and did not find it expedient and prudent to warn or complain to the club before taken the decisions.

The club says the arbitral decisions have caused "irreparable harm" and has had a negative impact on the overall performance of the team.

Medeama also insist the "damage done physically and psychologically to the club" due to the sudden unplanned departure of the two coaches cannot be explained and are now seeking for a "residual value in damages".

Boadu's assistant  Hamza Obeng also quit his role at the club on March 16 but joined his boss at Hearts of Oak eight days later.

Boadu spent three years at Medeama before being joined by his assistant Hamza Obeng - who spent two years at the club.

Medeama are set for a legal showdown with the two coaches after reporting the duo to the Player Status Committee for breach of contracts.
